About Me
Teacher, Mother, Wife

I'm Jamie, nice to meet you!
When I was pregnant the first time, I took an improv class. I was participating in a game where your only task is to keep talking, the whole time, without stopping. I was randomly assigned the topic of babies. I started talking about how I don't know much of anything about babies, I'd never actually been around any, and how unfortunate since I was pregnant with my first baby. After the activity, a soft-spoken woman (who was very funny on stage) came up to me and asked if it was true or whether I was just riffing. She offered me a piece of advice, a book she said had changed her life. The book was Dear Parents: Caring for Infants with Respect by Magda Gerber. This book would go on to change my life, teaching me how to see babies as whole, entire people.

This realization was the first thing I learned about parenting my own kids. I had worked with kids for years and thought that I already understood them. But parenting my own children led me down a path of self-discovery that I never expected. It has been challenging and painful, but also rewarding and uplifting.
Career
I started my career in consulting, doing design work for public engineering projects as well as construction project management. I have also worked in museum education as well as consulted on STEAM education curriculum for informal settings.
Education
I hold a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering as well as a Masters in Education focusing on curriculum and instruction. I have taken additional early childhood development courses as well as positive discipline classes and other parenting courses.
How Did I Get Here?
Everywhere I go, I meet people who ask me questions about the parenting they see me doing. They can see that there's something different and they want to break cycles, too. I have become a natural leader in this space and can't wait to share what I've learned with everyone.
